If you haven’t snagged it already, you’re missing out on our eBook, 7 Day Jumpstart to a Purposefull Life! Here’s a preview of the healthy eating tips we showcase inside.
In our humble opinions, the key to being purposeful and intentional with your food choices is two-fold: being realistic and planning ahead (a little).
1. EAT YOUR COLORS
Fill your grocery cart with lots of colorful fruit and vegetables. Different colors are indicators of different health-boosting vitamins, nutrients and enzymes that help your body function at its best. Use the chart below as a quick guide when shopping the aisles.
2. SNACK WISELY
Before you bolt out of the house in the morning, chock your bag full of healthy grab-and-go items that will keep your metabolism moving throughout the day and boost your energy with protein and essential vitamins. Protein-rich snacks are clutch because protein slows digestion and keeps blood sugar steady, which curbs your cravings and helps you make better decisions throughout the day.
Some ideas:
- Nuts and trail mix
- Hummus or peanut butter cups
- Cheese and fruit
3. GET EVERYONE AROUND THE TABLE
You may be surprised to learn that studies have shown that regular family meals generate significant physical, mental and emotional benefits. The Family Dinner Project has identified several specific benefits, including better academic performance, higher self-esteem, greater sense of resilience and lower risk of substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and depression.
