When you’re feeling tired or lazy and don’t feel like exercising, first tell yourself that this is the prime time for me to get better. Recognize that it’s those moments of making the decision to workout that will make the difference between you losing five pounds vs. ten pounds. Or, it could be you maxing out on the bench at 350 versus 375. The times that you’d rather go home and sleep are the workouts that usually end up being the best, at least from my experience. There’s just something powerful that happens when we decide to do what’s best for us even when we don’t feel like.
Remember: what you feed your body will determine the results that you produce when exercising, especially as you get older. If you want to be able to maintain a good energy level throughout the day, it is essential to consume the proper amounts of protein, carbohydrates, healthy fat, vitamins, minerals, and water. This means getting the proper amount of grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, meat and beans in our system. My Plate is a great resource to get more information on dieting and nutrition in order to maintain a healthy eating style along with an exercise routine that fits. Always make sure you’re properly hydrated. Remember, under optimal conditions the body can only go 4 to 10 days without water but the body can survive approximately 30 days without food. That alone should tell you the importance of water consumption. Water brings energy and life!
The truth is, it’s my relationship with God that motivates me the most when it comes to exercising instead of being lazy.
What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, KJV
If I am not taking care of my health through consistent exercise and proper nutrition, then I am depriving my body of what it needs in order to be the best example of a Godly man that I can be for my family and others around me.
