It’s amazing how God uses such tiny little things to deliver such a powerful message… if we’re paying attention.
The other morning as I was leaving Starbucks waiting on the light to turn green, I noticed a teeny tiny white butterfly walking across my windshield. At first, I wasn’t even sure it was a butterfly. It looked more like an ant carrying a piece of paper. I sat and watched, thinking how big its wings were compared to its little body and how heavy they must be to carry. I thought, Why doesn’t it just fly? That’s got to be a lot easier.
And then it hit me: God has equipped each of us with the capability to soar in this life. He has given us the answer to our prayers, the means to the end, the way out, the way up. But because life on the ground may be all we know, we carry around the very thing that’s meant to free us as a heavy burden on our backs. Instead of trusting God and putting what He’s given us to use like He intended, we stay on the ground, crushed under the weight of the world and the added burden of our misused opportunity.
The message was loud and clear to me. I have to stop carrying around the visions and dreams God gave me and trust that, when I open my wings to fly into my purpose, the weight of responsibility, fear, anxiety and uncertainty will be lifted and I’ll finally be able to soar. All this time I’ve been carrying around the answer to all of my prayers for my business, my family and my own fulfillment. It’s time to unpack it and let it carry me to the places God has for me. It’s time to trust God to make happen the things He has called me to do. It’s time for me to fly. And it’s time for you to do the same.
