Annnd here we are for our grand finale:
KEY #4 FOR A PURPOSE-FULL MINDSET: PRIORITIZE
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” – Matthew 6:33
“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” – Matthew 6:30-33, MSG
For me, my purpose revolves around building others up and empowering them to become who God has called them to be. That applies not only to my clients, but also to my husband, our son, and our extended family, and those whom I interact with through the ministries I’m involved with. So with “work”, “family” and “ministry” spheres in mind, I have to make careful decisions about what goes on my calendar (purge!) and how I invest my time and energy.
- Does this align with the life God has called me to lead?
- Will this move me forward in my purpose or set me back?
- How will this affect other important areas of my life?
- Set a “shutdown time” when you’re done with work for the day, and stick to it.
- Schedule regular family time and/or date night and block it off on your calendar. Don’t let anything take that spot!
- Review your goals regularly and adjust your commitments to help you achieve them.
- Remember, purpose requires discipline. If you know God is taking you somewhere, be unapologetic in declining things that might lead you off course.
That’s it! I hope you enjoyed this series and got something out of it. Leave a comment to let me know what stood out to you the most! Remember, this isn’t a one-time, read it and you got it type of thing. It takes daily commitment and deliberate focus to maintain a purpose-full mindset. If you start to drift off track, that’s ok! Just reel it in and keep moving forward. Be encouraged!
As promised, I’ve put together a free printable Purpose-Full Mindset Motivator that you can download and keep to remind you of all we’ve learned in this series. Enter your info below to get it.
