Noah had a daunting task ahead of him. Facing the earth’s total destruction, he was responsible for preserving the few pure lives that remained on the earth. It was more than 100 years between the time God revealed His plan to Noah and the time the flood waters receded, but through it all, Noah never lost faith.
Despite all the time that passed, Noah diligently carried out God’s instructions without questioning, doubting, or losing sight of what God said. How could he be so confident, so sure? Like Enoch, Noah walked with God.
“These are the family records of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among his contemporaries; Noah walked with God.”
Genesis 6:9, HCSB
When we walk with God, He will reveal His plans to us. Psalm 25:14 says, “The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.” (NIV) The closer we walk with God, the easier it will become to stand on His word and trust Him no matter the situations we face. Noah waited a looooonnnnggg time to see God’s word fulfilled, but it was undoubtedly his walk with God that sustained him and kept him believing all those years.
We should strive to be like Noah. As a result, our faith will surge and we’ll get to know God in a more intimate way.
