You guys… these last couple of months have been a whirlwind! And I mean that in the best way possible. We went off the grid for a little while (I’m still happily logged out of Facebook!) to really focus on us and all that is ahead with baby, house, and new projects. The moral of the story? God is better than good. He’s everything!
We are officially at the 36 week mark and the little guy has been graciously hanging in here with me! For the longest time I’ve had a sense that he’s going to come early, and I’m still praying he lets us move first. This past weekend we celebrated our soon-to-be new addition with some of our family and dearest friends, and I have to say we were so honored to have such a tremendous outpouring of love! I can’t even begin to say THANK YOUUUU enough to my sisters and besties and mommy for putting all of this together for us. Everything was absolutely perfect!
They say it takes a village to raise a child, and right now it feels like this baby is being born into all of Manhattan with all the love that’s been surrounding him. Anthony and I often joke about how we can never do anything small… a “low-key” gathering for us is like 20 people minimum, which to some is probably ridiculous but for us, it’s just the way it is. And to tell you the truth, I wouldn’t have it any other way. There are so many people in this world who crave love and support, friendship and family; yet we are blessed with an abundance of it all. From our blood relatives to friends we’ve known forever that are now considered family to our extended church family that loves us like their own kids, we are surrounded with the most loving, supportive network and couldn’t be more thankful. It does get a little loud at times (ha) but we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome our son into this amazing tribe of people.
You know I couldn’t resist a food picture… but seriously. LOOK at these cookies! How gorgeous!!!
So the big question after the baby shower was… where on EARTH is all this stuff going?! Wonderful problem to have, but one that needed to be addressed nonetheless. Our closing date was pushed back on us by about a month, and we’re now set to snag our keys to the new place in just NINE DAYS! (THANK! YOU! JESUS!!!) As you can imagine, I CANNOT wait! Type A + mild self-diagnosed OCD + nesting instincts have me itching to get into the new place and get everything in some sort of workable setup before baby arrives. Until then, our wonderful mothers are housing stuff for all three of us (plus the three of us). Pretty sure we’ve taken over every closet, basement, corner and spare room in both our moms’ houses (so they’re probably more ready for us to move than we are!) but they haven’t (audibly) complained yet, and we are oh so grateful for them putting up with us for, well, our whole lives. 🙂 Our tribe is the best tribe, indeed!
That being said, the house is pretty much done! We do our final inspections and walkthroughs very soon and will be moving in before we know it! I’m sure you can guess my favorite part of the house… Glory to GOD for double ovens!
It’ll be awhile before it’s all decorated and blog-ready, but we’re just looking forward to being IN! I was (not really) joking with my mom yesterday about the baby coming early and when he was “allowed” (yeah, right) to arrive. She says he must wait at least until the 31st so we can get settled in. I said as long as he waits until after closing (hours, days, no matter) we’re good to go. Ha! Judging by the fact that most days now it feels like he’s trying to tear through my skin, he might be pretty close to ready himself.
It has been such a wonderful journey. God has been so good, so faithful along the way. He made all of this happen, and we could never truly express our gratitude as much as we might try. I’ll save some of the details for a later post, but for now, suffice it to say that we have truly grown as individuals, in our personal walks with God, and in our marriage over the last year. We let God prove to us what He was capable of doing in our lives and are so amazed to look back on it all and see how far He has brought us. In the beginning, we thought we were so lost; but now we can say with confidence it was worth the uncertainty of trusting God’s plan and following Him. He does make the best plans.
