There are times in our walk with God when we may feel defeated, hopeless or weak to the point we feel like giving up on our relationship with the Lord. This is completely normal and something we’ve all probably faced at one time or another, but at the same time we cannot wallow in these types of thoughts. Thoughts such as these are completely draining and will only lead us to feel even more defeated. If we’re experiencing some of these problems now in our walk with God, we may want to evaluate our prayer life. Is our prayer life slacking? Are we allowing God to fill us with His Spirit on a daily basis? If we aren’t this could be the answer as to why we’re experiencing some of these negative thoughts in our life.
Remember that we were born into this world of sin and negativity therefore we have to have a renewing experience of God filling us with His Spirit everyday in order for us to think like Him and take on all of His characteristics.
For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace. – Romans 8:6, HCSB
As you can see it is important for God’s Spirit to be activated everyday in our lives, or else we’ll have thoughts that will eventually cripple us instead of thoughts of peace and life. For all of us striving to have a better relationship with God, or trying to overcome doubt, fear, and feelings of hopelessness, I say we press on and keep moving forward. Allow God to fight the battle for you and stop trying to fight the battle all by yourself. As you go through your day at work, school, the grocery store or in the car sitting in traffic, try to only think about good, uplifting things.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. – Philippians 4:8, KJV
Before we leave our houses each morning, let’s make it our mission to pray and connect with the Source, the almighty Lord, and see the positive impact that He has in our lives. Remember the Lord is worthy and worthy to be praised always and forever.
