Hey everyone!
I’m working on a bunch of fun updates for you that’ll be posting really soon, but in the meantime, I have something important to share.
Literally millions of people have been impacted by the two devastating storms that have hit the Gulf Coast region from Texas to Florida. As the winds die down and the flood waters recede, rebuilding will begin; but not without its struggles. Power outages are reported to last up to a few more weeks for some, while others are facing total loss of homes and belongings. The need is great, but our God is greater; and He has united us all together in love for times like these.
Not all of us can go help rebuild. Not all of us are able to donate supplies or put our hands to the work; but what we can all do is pray for strength for those affected, for wisdom for those administering help and resources, and for courage for those facing the challenges of beginning life anew after the storm.
If you’re able to do a little more, we’ve got a way to help. We’re donating 100% of proceeds from our “On The Come Up” tees through the end of September to our home church’s fund to provide school supplies to the children from our sister churches in Texas and Florida and others in their communities.
Our church (Christian Life Center for those in the DMV area!) is part of the United Pentecostal Church International, and several churches within our organization in both Texas and Florida have been dramatically affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The church is often the heart of the community, serving as an outpost for hope and restoration by ministering to people’s spiritual, emotional and physical needs alike. It’s no different now. By partnering with these organizations on the ground with roots in affected communities, we know we can make a direct impact on the children and families that will be in the recovery process over the next several months.
Our church has decided to come alongside these churches and communities to help provide school supplies to the children that have lost everything in these storms but will soon be returning to school. In an effort to ease their transition back to normalcy, we want to help them get back on their feet and be prepared for the school year when schools reopen. Each t-shirt purchased will help fill a backpack for a child who’s lost his or her school supplies to the hurricane. Having the supplies and materials they need to be successful will go a long way to help these kids navigate this traumatic experience and finish their academic year strong.
I believe the message this shirt conveys is applicable to this rebuilding phase our country is experiencing. The inspiration for this shirt is Psalm 40:2, which says, “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.” (NLT) In times like these, we look to Jesus to pull us out of the rubble and reestablish us as we begin again. He can, and He will!
We continue to pray for all affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and will do our part to help. Shop the collection and SPREAD THE WORD! Together we can make a HUGE difference for those beginning to rebuild.
Thanks for your support!
