Soooo confession: I actually hate yogurt. Like all of it. Never liked it. EVER. It’s just something about that yogurt taste. No flavors or fruit can mask it. BUT I’ve finally found a way to enjoy it- MILKSHAKES! (Duh!)I know that yogurt, especially Greek yogurt with its supercharge of protein, is really good for you in a number of ways. The probiotics help improve digestion, and it’s loaded with tons of protein and nutrients in just a small serving. Added bonus- the calcium and amino acids contained in yogurt can help you burn fat and lose weight. So I have plenty of reasons to try to eat it. I’ve totally mastered the art of sneaking it into baked goods like our Chocolate Marble Banana Bread, Extra Healthy Zucchini Bread, and Orange Rosemary Scones. I even used it in the frosting for our Skinny Chocolate Cake! I just can’t eat it straight up. Blecccch!
I don’t know why it took me so long to break out our trusty Ninja and whip up a milkshake. Clearly Oreos will make anything better. And boy do they make you wanna drink down a whole tub of yogurt here! 😀 Better Oreo Milkshake = SUCCESS + Perfect Monday pick-me-up.
Seriously, this recipe is 3 ingredients and like 30 seconds in the making. Just dump everything in the blender and then insert a straw. 😉 Now, if you’re really trying to watch your calories, clearly real-deal Oreos wouldn’t be the best way to go. However, I was so busy celebrating the facts that a) Anthony actually let me buy Oreos and b) I found a way to enjoy Greek yogurt that I didn’t really care. I took full advantage and dropped 7 double stuf Oreos in my milkshake for perfectly Oreo-y perfection (it’s that big of a perfect deal). Why 7? Honestly, I was standing over the Ninja thinking, “Hmmm… How many? 7’s a good number.” It turned out to be the perfect number to counteract that chalky Greek yogurt taste and make this milkshake super Oreo-y. (I HATE Oreo milkshakes that don’t have enough Oreos!!!) After all, the benefits of Greek yogurt and almond milk totally offset the “badness” of Oreos, right? Yeah, I thought so, too. Maybe instead of “Better Oreo Milkshake” I shall rename it “BESTEST Oreo Milkshake EVERRRR!” (*cue trumpets*)
