The biggest shopping day of the year is rapidly approaching, but with every holiday season it seems only to get more and more complicated (and, umm… dangerous). I’ve not been a huge Black Friday shopper, but this year with a new house to furnish, there are a few things I have on my list. So in the spirit of smart shopping, I thought I’d share my top tips for getting in and out of Black Friday sales with what you’re looking for (and with your life and sanity unharmed).
This year we’re on a serious appliance hunt! We need a washer and dryer for the new house, and I’d love a french door fridge… Washer and dryer take first priority though, because babies mean loads upon loads upon loads of laundry! I’ve already started researching the set I want, and am starting to scope out where I’ll find the best deals. So far, Lowe’s and HH Gregg seem to have solid offerings. Best Buy, of course, will be on the list, except I’m trying to avoid the crazed droves of people out to snag flat screens.
The game plan currently is as follows: 1) decide on the brand and model(s) I’m most interested in; 2) agree on a budget with the hubby… possibly also an acceptable variance; 3) decide who’s going where and arm him with the exact details of what I want (photos included) so there’s zero confusion and he can just get what we want, buy it and get out of there! Having a joint account makes it easy for both of us to have purchase power so whoever finds the best deal first can swipe then and there, on the spot. Of course, online shopping would be nice, but appliances to me are just one of those things you have to decide on in person. FaceTime will be key here when we’re at different stores!
We’ll definitely take advantage of early shopping hours because fighting the masses while 7 months pregnant is not my idea of Thanksgiving fun… I may even milk this a little bit and convince my sister to wheel me into the store. đ Helloooo expectant mother parking!
Here’s hoping we get in and out with everything we need and no damage to our psyches or bodies!
So… what’s on your Black Friday shopping list?
